Rancho Grande Information

Tucked along South Jackson Street, Rancho Grande feels like one of those dependable local spots where you already know you’ll leave full and satisfied. From the outside, it has that classic Tex-Mex diner vibe, but once you step in, the warm, casual atmosphere and the steady hum of regulars chatting over chips and salsa give it a welcoming, lived-in feel that’s hard to fake.

The menu leans heavily into familiar Mexican and Tex-Mex favorites, and that’s exactly what people seem to come for. You’ll find everything from sizzling fajitas to enchiladas smothered in rich sauces, along with combination plates that let you sample a bit of everything. The chips and salsa arrive quickly, and the salsa has just enough kick to keep things interesting without overpowering your palate. On one visit, the beef fajitas came out still sizzling, with tender strips of meat, grilled onions, and peppers that hit that perfect balance of smoky and savory. It’s not reinventing the wheel, but it doesn’t need to.

Service here tends to be attentive without hovering. Servers check in often enough to keep drinks topped off and baskets refilled, and there’s a relaxed pace that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. It’s the kind of place where families gather after a long day, and where you might overhear conversations between staff and regulars who clearly know each other by name. That sense of familiarity adds to the overall experience more than any décor ever could.

Location-wise, Rancho Grande sits conveniently within Jacksonville, making it an easy stop whether you’re local or just passing through East Texas. Parking is straightforward, and the restaurant doesn’t feel overly crowded even during busier dinner hours, though there can be a short wait on weekends. Reviews from locals often highlight consistency, which is something that stands out after multiple visits-the food tastes the same in a good way, and you know what to expect each time.

While it may not be a destination for adventurous or upscale dining, Rancho Grande delivers exactly what it promises: hearty portions, reliable flavors, and a comfortable place to unwind with classic Tex-Mex dishes.

What People's Say About Place

This was a great place. Everything was fantastic. We had the charro beans and they were flavorful. The cheese puff was crispy and the cheese was good. We had an assortment of enchiladas and all flavors were good. The hot sauce was exceptional. Highly recommend!

It’s a nice restaurant with decent food. There are some authentic ideas for Mexican food, but not far off the typical TexMex recipes you already know. It is a little fast foodie with all of the tables and an old and a little unclean feel. Also a touch pricey. Overall it was a decent experience.

Outstanding fajitas! The skirt steak they used was better than any I have had, no gristle, tender, and seasoned just right. Great margaritas to boot.

My husband and I went here around 2pm, and had a late lunch. The waiter was friendly and very attentive. I only got a picture of my husband's meal, which was fish. It was grilled with delicious seasoning and had a buttery sauce that could be poured onto it. It came with 2 pieces of fish and a half of an avocado. I had a bite of it, and loved it! Very reasonably priced too!

This place definitely authentic but it was too heavy for me! Salsa was delicious that they serve with tortillas chips! I also enjoyed their drinks, I had hibiscus and my friend had the mango tea both delicious! Food good too but like I said it was too heavy. We ordered tortilla soup, the broth was amazing it definitely had more flavors! And also ordered shrimp skewers plate, it was good! I will be returning to this place.

We have been going here for years. It is always good. We just went about four days ago. Incredible food I had the street tacos and my wife had enchilada Verde’s. We also had queso and way too many chips. Great place to come Atmosphere is awesome seating that’s great.

Was our first visit on a Sunday at 3:30pm. Great service. Great food. Service was meh. However, would go there again.

Really good Mexican food, with a very good sized bar and plenty of seating for 2 or large groups and everything in between. Food is delish! Fajitas are tender. The pics attached are of some of the decorations which highlight the Hispanic heritage. It's a very large collection so it's a must see for those interested in historical figures. This is a must stop for a terrific meal and then some!
