Rancho Grande Information

Rancho Grande is a casual Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurant at 705 S Jackson St in Jacksonville, Texas, built around familiar comfort food, generous combination plates, and a broad menu that moves from sizzling fajitas and enchiladas to tacos, seafood plates, burritos, and a dedicated kids’ selection. One detail that gives the place a stronger local identity is its tortillas: Jacksonville’s official tourism site specifically notes that flour and corn tortillas are made on site throughout the day.

The food is best understood through a few representative choices rather than the entire menu. Fajitas bring the classic hot-platter appeal, while enchiladas and street tacos show the restaurant’s Tex-Mex core. Seafood is more prominent than at some neighborhood Mexican restaurants, with fish-and-shrimp plates and a specialty seafood gumbo appearing on the restaurant’s own site. That range makes Rancho Grande useful for mixed groups, especially when some diners want traditional combo-plate comfort and others are looking beyond the usual taco-and-enchilada routine.

The room is geared more toward relaxed, social dining than a quiet, formal night out. Restaurantji describes spacious seating suitable for parties, and its review summary repeatedly highlights homemade tortillas, friendly staff, and a lively feel. Tripadvisor likewise identifies Rancho Grande as a lunch-and-dinner restaurant with seating, table service, takeout, and alcohol service. For a family meal, casual dinner for two, or a group gathering, the format is easygoing and flexible; the kids’ menu adds another practical reason families may find it convenient.

Customer feedback is positive most often around the food itself, portions, tortillas, and value. Current DoorDash feedback also points to hearty servings and popular fajita, enchilada, taco, and nacho orders. Service is less uniform: Restaurantji’s review synthesis characterizes it as sometimes hit-or-miss even while noting that staff are generally friendly and helpful. That makes expectations important,Rancho Grande fits best when you want an unfussy, energetic meal rather than tightly choreographed service or a hushed date-night atmosphere.

Takeout and delivery are currently available through DoorDash, including group ordering, while the restaurant’s own site lists dine-in hours extending later Thursday through Saturday. Rancho Grande’s Facebook presence has also promoted Taco Tuesday and live music, so an evening visit can be livelier when an event is scheduled; check the current calendar rather than assuming entertainment every night.

If your idea of a satisfying Jacksonville meal is warm tortillas, sizzling Tex-Mex plates, plenty of choice, and a casual room that works for families and friends, Rancho Grande is worth considering. Stop in hungry, bring the group, and let the broad menu do the rest. Hours, services, events, and availability may change.

What People's Say About Place

Really good Mexican food, with a very good sized bar and plenty of seating for 2 or large groups and everything in between. Food is delish! Fajitas are tender. The pics attached are of some of the decorations which highlight the Hispanic heritage. It's a very large collection so it's a must see for those interested in historical figures. This is a must stop for a terrific meal and then some!

Outstanding fajitas! The skirt steak they used was better than any I have had, no gristle, tender, and seasoned just right. Great margaritas to boot.

This was a great place. Everything was fantastic. We had the charro beans and they were flavorful. The cheese puff was crispy and the cheese was good. We had an assortment of enchiladas and all flavors were good. The hot sauce was exceptional. Highly recommend!

This place definitely authentic but it was too heavy for me! Salsa was delicious that they serve with tortillas chips! I also enjoyed their drinks, I had hibiscus and my friend had the mango tea both delicious! Food good too but like I said it was too heavy. We ordered tortilla soup, the broth was amazing it definitely had more flavors! And also ordered shrimp skewers plate, it was good! I will be returning to this place.

We have been going here for years. It is always good. We just went about four days ago. Incredible food I had the street tacos and my wife had enchilada Verde’s. We also had queso and way too many chips. Great place to come Atmosphere is awesome seating that’s great.

Was our first visit on a Sunday at 3:30pm. Great service. Great food. Service was meh. However, would go there again.

My husband and I went here around 2pm, and had a late lunch. The waiter was friendly and very attentive. I only got a picture of my husband's meal, which was fish. It was grilled with delicious seasoning and had a buttery sauce that could be poured onto it. It came with 2 pieces of fish and a half of an avocado. I had a bite of it, and loved it! Very reasonably priced too!

It’s a nice restaurant with decent food. There are some authentic ideas for Mexican food, but not far off the typical TexMex recipes you already know. It is a little fast foodie with all of the tables and an old and a little unclean feel. Also a touch pricey. Overall it was a decent experience.
